It’s been a scorching summer. How are you holding up?If you are noticing flares of impatience (did the kid’s just leave their wet swimsuit in the middle of the floor again!?) or uncomfortable swelling (I swear my wedding rings aren’t usually this tight, even with a massage), it’s a sure sign that the heat is getting to you.
This summer, I’ve sent you some easy ways to cool down, from simple breath practices to minty mocktails. But did you know that massage can also play an active role in releasing heat from the body? You may have noticed this on the table – you are nice and toasty after the first half of your treatment…then you flip over – goose bumps everywhere!
Massage pumps blood and lymph while also stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system. The side effect of these things is vasodilation, which cools down your system. While this effect is temporary, the release of heat and the passive increase in circulation is deeply beneficial for the body and the mind.
Regular massage takes you out of fight-or-flight, do-or-die mode. It helps you “stay cool” in all aspects of your life. And, if you haven’t tried our Ayurvedic Treatments (Abyhanga and Gandharva) they provide double the benefit in this department by ushering you into a deeply relaxed and meditative state while providing a focused approach to circulation and lymphatic drainage.
In short, if you want to keep your cool, book a massage during summer!
You can book online anytime.
Along with Emily, I’ve been filling in while we are on the hunt for amazing new therapists to join our team, so if you’ve been missing my hands, book in the next two weeks! After that, keep your eyes out for new staff to try.
