You might be wondering why I’m so passionate about keeping your cool in the heat of summer. Here’s the bottom line: excess heat “accumulated” in your system is a primary cause of Autoimmune conditions and, for that matter, all inflammatory process.

I’ve been long familiar with the Ayurvedic and Chinese Medicine views on this. I used guidelines for health coaching from these sciences to make habit modifications that reduced heat in my system and HEALED my body from Hashimoto’s Disease, an autoimmune condition affecting the thyroid.

Pure Life Ayurveda Massage & Wellness CoachingLately, I’ve been studying the functional medicine approach to treating autoimmune conditions, and I’ve found that it parallels Ayurveda almost exactly (with some additions from modern medicine). In fact, two of the main components of the Functional Medicine approach are:

  • Lifestyle modification (including stress reduction through meditation, yoga, and proper sleep)
  • Nutritional modification (including plant based diet and detoxification).
